New Programs For Moms Looking to Return To Work at Career & Life Transitions Center in Flemington
Stay at home moms looking to return to work may find their search for the career on ramp a bit easier thanks to NORWESCAP’s Career & Life Transitions Center in Flemington. “Women who opted out of the work world years ago face unique challenges in going back to work,” explains Pat Moonjian, Program Director of the Career & Life Transitions Center for Women. “Skills need updating, resumes need reworking, interviewing techniques need polishing, and how to even begin a job search for the 21st century workplace is a new experience. So when our Advisory Council member Carol Camerino approached me with an idea to offer two new programs for Comeback Moms, the timing was perfect.”

Camerino, a Raritan Township resident, has been researching the Comeback Moms phenomenom and began a blog, www.lookingfortheonramp.blogspot.com. She recently became a job club leader with ABC Good Morning America correspondent Tory Johnson’s job clubs and volunteered to offer both her 2 session workshop for Comeback Moms as well as Johnson’s job club to benefit the center and area women.

Comeback Moms—Looking for the On Ramp is a 2 session introductory program for stay at home moms who are looking to return to the world of work within the next 6-12 months. Participants will assess interests, develop strategies for enhancing and updating their skills, evaluate their past experiences and how they transfer to today’s workplace, and create an action plan for launching an effective job search. The 2 sessions will be on Fridays, March 5 and 12, from 9:30-11:30 am at the Career & Life Transitions Center for Women office at 84 Park Avenue in Flemington. Cost to attend the program is $50 and scholarships are available.

Looking for the On Ramp Job Club is an 8 week support group for women who are currently looking for employment. Feature topics include job search strategies, networking, resume writing, interviewing strategies, developing a professional image, and tracking progress. Like a mastermind or success team group, the Looking for the On Ramp Job Club will provide participants with encouragement and feedback to help them move forward towards securing a position that matches their current life and professional goals. The job club will run 8 consecutive Friday mornings from 9:30-11:30 am and begins on Friday, April 16th at the center’s office in Flemington. Cost to attend the series is $100 and scholarships are available.
